Four summer tips for dog owners

The glorious summer is finally here but as wonderful as it is, it can bring dangers to your four-legged friend if you are vigilant. Below we list 4 summer tips that are good to keep in mind for dog owners during the summer months.

1. Water bottle
During the summer months, the heat can be a danger to your dog, leading to both heat stroke and dehydration. It is therefore important to always have a water bottle with you on your walk, no matter how long or short it is. It is also particularly important to ensure that fresh water is always available in your home on hot days.

2. Do not leave your dog in the car
No matter how quick your errand is, don’t leave your dog in the car! Opening a window or parking in the shade is not enough. Your dog is very likely to suffer from heatstroke and in the worst case scenario, heatstroke can be fatal.

3. lubricate the paws
Many people may think that lubricating their paws is most essential during the winter months, but it is just as important in the summer. The ground is hot and can be a danger to your dog’s pads. Make sure to apply the protective paw stick before exposing them to heat and then the conditioning paw stick to keep them soft and avoid cracking.

4. insect spray
The heat is home to many troublesome insects, ticks, wasps and other bugs that can be a danger to your dog. To avoid this becoming a problem, we recommend using our bug spray which keeps insects away for 2 hours and is suitable for all furry animals. Spray your dog’s coat before going for a walk and repeat for longer stays outdoors to avoid problematic bites of all kinds.

Last but not least, enjoy the summer with your four-legged friend!
